About The Position

The Traffic Control Technician I will be responsible for assisting with the daily functions of Precinct 2, including ensuring all traffic control devices, both regulated, non-regulated, and warning signs, follow all County, State, and Federal Standards, Regulations, and Specifications. This role operates different types of specialized heavy equipment used to perform construction and road maintenance projects. This posting may close at any time once a sufficient number of applications have been received.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• Two (2) years’ experience setting traffic control devices, detour signs installation experience required.
• Must have a valid Class C driver license and obtain a Texas Class “A” CDL license with tanker endorsement within eight (8) months of hire.
• Understanding of MUTCD codes and specifications.
• Possess a working knowledge of asphalt and concrete pavement.
• Basic knowledge of computer programs, smart levels, and digital measuring devices.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Installation and maintenance of regulated and non-regulated traffic signs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing required reflectivity testing.
• Helps to establish the replacement/maintenance schedules for all traffic control devices within the Precinct Boundaries.
• Assist with the setup of temporary traffic control standards at various work sites.
• Input corrective Traffic Signs repairs and maintenance requests in Cartegraph.
• Maintains the active required Regulatory and Non-Regulatory sign inventory.
• On-Call after hours for Emergency “Regulatory” Traffic Sign repair or replacement.
• Operates different types of equipment used to remove obstructions interfering with the visibility of Traffic Signs.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
