About The Position

Southwest Safety is seeking Traffic Control Supervisors to lead the charge in the traffic control industry. This role involves using the latest technology to ensure safer work zones and building client relationships through on-site traffic control needs. The Traffic Control Supervisor, also known as a Crew Lead, works with construction teams to prevent interference and danger from vehicles and pedestrians to laborers and their projects. Candidates must be certified in basic traffic safety techniques and have demonstrated proficiency as a Traffic Controller. The Crew Lead is responsible for creating a safe work zone by setting up cones and barriers, and holding stop/slow signs. Constant awareness of construction and traffic activity is required, and compliance with all safety regulations is mandatory. The Crew Lead's principal activities include coordinating with on-site foremen, performing traffic control and flagging duties, and setting up, maintaining, and removing temporary work zones. Commuting time to and from job sites is considered non-compensable.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a smartphone with internet access for timekeeping and communication to receive work schedule
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be able to work in all weather conditions and tolerate varying climates of heat, cold, and rain
  • Pass a drug screen prior to employment and maintain a drug free status
  • Be able to stand throughout your entire shift, hand and arm movement is required
  • The position does not allow for frequent breaks
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Be physically capable of performing all flagging duties
  • Have reliable transportation to and from job sites. All employees are permitted to drive their own vehicles to the job site or assigned meeting location. Driving of, or riding with, crew members to and from the job site or assigned meeting location, whether in a personal or company vehicle, is voluntary carpooling for the convenience of the employees.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred (mandatory for employees who elect to use a company vehicle to commute)

Responsibilities

  • Be proficient in all Traffic Controller activities
  • Setup, maintain, and remove temporary work zones including warning signs, and traffic cones, according to ATSSA and DOT regulations
  • Load and unload work zone equipment to and from the company vehicle at the job site
  • Complete and submit all necessary paperwork before leaving the last job site
  • Wear and maintain proper PPE in accordance with Wright specific policy
  • Ensure that company vehicles are kept clean and orderly and inform management of any safety concerns or vehicle problems
  • Coordinate work operations with on-site foreman
  • Review start time and address of job site or meeting location (if applicable) as established and sent by office scheduler via company app
  • Drive the company vehicle in a safe manner when commuting to and from job sites, if employee chooses to use a company vehicle for commuting
  • Read and understand Wright safety manual and employee handbook
  • Reports to the Field Supervisor
  • Other job duties as assigned
