About The Position

The Traffic Control Supervisor oversees the planning, staffing, coordination, and execution of traffic control operations for a major medical facility and surrounding public roadways. This position supervises Traffic Control Officers and ensures safe, efficient, and customer-focused traffic operations. The supervisor serves as the primary on-site representative and acts as the eyes and ears of management, maintaining regular communication with clients, vendors, and key stakeholders while proactively addressing operational needs and concerns. The supervisor is responsible for adapting operations to changing site conditions and ensuring seamless coordination among all parties involved.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years of traffic control experience.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate Traffic Control Officers for event coverage.
  • Monitor operations and address staffing and operational issues.
  • Train, coach, and develop employees.
  • Conduct field inspections and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Review performance and identify operational improvements.
  • Safeguard company assets and equipment.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between management, clients, vendors, and on-site stakeholders.
  • Act as the eyes and ears of management by reporting operational conditions, safety concerns, customer issues, and emerging site needs.
  • Coordinate daily with medical facility representatives, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient traffic operations.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with construction management teams and field crews regarding planned and active construction activities.
  • Evaluate changing construction phases and implement necessary operational adjustments to staffing, traffic control plans, posts, and vehicle routing.
  • Monitor patient, visitor, employee, and service vehicle traffic patterns and recommend operational improvements.
  • Respond to traffic-related incidents, access concerns, and operational disruptions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure traffic control operations support uninterrupted access to the facility while maintaining public and employee safety.
  • Foster strong working relationships with clients, vendors, contractors, and community stakeholders.
  • Identify potential operational impacts and implement proactive solutions to minimize disruptions and maintain service levels.
