Louis W Bray Construction is actively hiring for an experienced Traffic Control Person to join our team and assist in the completion of complex, Heavy Civil Construction projects in the Ottawa area.

Requirements

  • Valid Traffic Control Person (TCP) / Flagger certification recognized in Ontario.
  • Minimum 1 year of traffic control or construction site experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM Book 7) guidelines.
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and safety-focused.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Good verbal communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • CSA-approved safety boots and willingness to wear required PPE at all times.
  • Available to work Monday to Friday, with potential for early mornings, evenings, night work, and occasional weekends as required.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and control traffic flow at construction sites in accordance with the Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM Book 7) and company safety standards.
  • Communicate clearly with motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, and site personnel to ensure safe movement through work zones.
  • Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control devices including signs, cones, barricades, and delineators.
  • Monitor traffic conditions and adjust control methods as required to maintain safety and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with crew members, equipment operators, and supervisors regarding site access and traffic flow.
  • Maintain clear and professional hand signals and radio communication at all times.
  • Ensure the safety of workers and the public by remaining alert and aware of surroundings.
  • Inspect traffic control setups regularly to ensure compliance with regulations and project requirements.
  • Respond calmly and professionally to public inquiries or concerns.
  • Perform general labour duties as required when traffic volumes are low or as directed by the supervisor.
