About The Position

The Universal Group is seeking a hardworking and growth-oriented individual for a Traffic Control Person (TCP) role within their Traffic Control team. As a TCP, the primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic in work zones. This involves setting up and adjusting traffic control equipment, responding to emergencies and hazards, and upholding the company's standards for quality, delivery, safety, and responsiveness to ensure seamless operations.

Requirements

  • Valid BC TCP Certification issued by a regulatory body.

Responsibilities

  • Set up traffic control zones and adjust work zone equipment.
  • Give clear and precise traffic control directions and signals to motorists.
  • Conduct traffic control at worksites to protect workers, the public, and employees, adhering to provided training.
  • Attend health and safety toolbox/tailgate meetings.
  • Participate in accident/incident investigations as needed.
  • Complete required documentation for due diligence and compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with the public, including de-escalating frustrations.
  • Report health and safety matters, noncompliance issues, or conflicts to the dispatch manager or health and safety advisor.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) as per WorkSafeBC regulations and contractor requirements.
  • Ensure the BC Traffic Control Person (TCP) certificate is maintained and valid at all times.
