About The Position

AWP Safety is America’s Leading Traffic Management Company and is looking for Protectors to join their team. As a Protector, you will work with a team at job sites, and no prior experience or degree is needed as the company provides training and support for career development. Safety is the top priority. The role involves setting up and taking down traffic control equipment, guiding traffic with a stop/slow paddle, monitoring traffic and job site activity, adhering to safety rules, communicating with the crew and supervisor, and maintaining vehicles and equipment. The job requires working outdoors in all weather conditions, with potential for night, weekend, or emergency work. Employees may stand or walk for 8 to 12 hours per shift. The company provides safety gear, but employees must provide their own steel-toe safety boots.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Able to stand, walk, and work outside for long periods
  • Able to lift 40–50 pounds
  • Willing to work in traffic and changing weather
  • Flexible schedule; Show up on time, every shift
  • Must pass pre-hire screening, including a drug test (this is a safety sensitive job)
  • Stay alert around moving traffic and follow all safety rules all the time
  • Treat coworkers, clients, and the public with respect
  • Steel toe safety boots that go above the ankle

Responsibilities

  • Setting up cones, signs, and barricades and taking traffic control equipment down
  • Using a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic, watching traffic and job site activity
  • Following all safety rules taught in training
  • Communicating with your crew and supervisor
  • Helping keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe
  • Working outside all year, in all weather
