About The Position

AWP Safety, America's Leading Traffic Management Company, is seeking individuals to join their team as Protectors. This role does not require prior experience or a degree, as comprehensive training is provided. The company emphasizes safety and career development. Protectors work at job sites, setting up and taking down traffic control equipment, guiding traffic with a stop/slow paddle, monitoring traffic and site activity, adhering to safety protocols, communicating with their team, and maintaining equipment. The role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions year-round, with potential for night, weekend, or emergency shifts. Shifts can be 8 to 12 hours long, requiring standing or walking for extended periods. The company provides essential safety gear, but steel-toe safety boots are required.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license
Able to stand, walk, and work outside for long periods
Able to lift 40–50 pounds
Willing to work in traffic and changing weather
Flexible schedule; Show up on time, every shift
Must pass pre-hire screening, including a drug test (this is a safety sensitive job)
Stay alert around moving traffic and follow all safety rules all the time
Treat coworkers, clients, and the public with respect
Must be able to pay union dues

Responsibilities

Setting up cones, signs, and barricades and taking traffic control equipment down
Using a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic, watching traffic and job site activity
Following all safety rules taught in training
Communicating with your crew and supervisor
Helping keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe
Working outside all year, in all weather
