About The Position

P.D. Brooks is hiring Traffic Control Crew Leads to help set up and manage safe work zones. The Crew Lead Traffic Controller (“Crew Lead”) works with construction teams to ensure that vehicles and pedestrians do not interfere with, or pose a danger to, laborers and their projects. Candidates must be certified in basic traffic safety techniques and are required to have demonstrated proficiency as a Traffic Controller. The Crew Lead must create a safe work zone that ensures traffic does not cause a threat to the workers. This involves setting up cones and barriers that show traffic where to drive, as well as holding up signs that tell traffic to either stop or to proceed slowly. Crew Lead Traffic Controllers must constantly be aware of both the construction and traffic activity taking place around them. Compliance with all safety regulations is mandatory. The Crew Lead’s principal activities are coordinating with on-site foremen, performing traffic control and flagging duties at assigned job sites, including setting up, maintaining, and removing temporary work zones.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred (mandatory for employees who elect to use a company vehicle to commute)
  • Must have a smartphone with internet access for timekeeping and communication to receive work schedule
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be able to work in all weather conditions and tolerate varying climates of heat, cold, and rain
  • Pass a drug screen prior to employment and maintain a drug free status
  • Be able to stand throughout your entire shift, hand and arm movement is required
  • The position does not allow for frequent breaks
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Be physically capable of performing all flagging duties
  • Have reliable transportation to and from job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Be proficient in all Traffic Controller activities
  • Setup, maintain, and remove temporary work zones including warning signs, and traffic cones, according to ATSSA and DOT regulations
  • Load and unload work zone equipment to and from the company vehicle at the job site
  • Complete and submit all necessary paperwork before leaving the last job site
  • Wear and maintain proper PPE in accordance with Wright specific policy
  • Ensure that company vehicles are kept clean and orderly and inform management of any safety concerns or vehicle problems
  • Coordinate work operations with on-site foreman
  • Review start time and address of job site or meeting location (if applicable) as established and sent by office scheduler via company app
  • Drive the company vehicle in a safe manner when commuting to and from job sites, if employee chooses to use a company vehicle for commuting
  • Read and understand Wright safety manual and employee handbook
  • Reports to the Field Supervisor
  • Other job duties as assigned
