About The Position

American Flagging, a Helix Traffic Solutions company, is seeking dependable, safety-conscious Traffic Control Apprentices to work throughout Vermont. Apprentices help maintain safe traffic flow around construction zones, roadway maintenance projects, and other active work areas. No prior experience is required; paid training and company-provided flagger certification are provided. The role is physically active and outdoors, near moving traffic and construction equipment, and requires travel to assigned job sites throughout Vermont. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available, with year-round work, overtime opportunities, and weekends as needed based on operational requirements.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Reliable transportation.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Willingness to complete a pre-employment drug screening.
• Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours) while working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow, when conditions are deemed safe for operations.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to travel to assigned job sites throughout Vermont.

Responsibilities

• Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic safely through active work zones.
• Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control signs, cones, and barricades.
• Monitor traffic conditions and communicate potential safety hazards.
• Coordinate with crew members and supervisors to maintain safe traffic flow.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Assist with loading and unloading traffic control equipment.
