About The Position
The Total Traffic + Weather Network is seeking an experienced traffic anchor or broadcast professional familiar with the major roadways and traffic patterns around the greater DMV to help keep listeners informed about traffic and weather conditions throughout the day and week. This role involves providing timely, accurate, and useful information to commuters, delivering up-to-the-minute reports on accidents and delays, and reading traffic updates, commercials, and public service announcements on air. The position requires gathering information from multiple sources, monitoring traffic feeds, researching, writing, and producing traffic and weather copy, and editing audio using digital software. Additionally, the role involves managing incoming information, verifying facts, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining updated content on station websites. The ability to create various content formats for digital platforms is also a requirement. This position demands flexibility in work schedule, including early mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Strong knowledge of local geography, major roadways, mass transit systems, and traffic patterns.
- Clear, pleasant, and well controlled on air voice with excellent pronunciation.
- Skilled at working in a fast paced, deadline driven, newsroom style environment.
- Excellent writing and editing abilities with a strong command of grammar.
- Exceptional attention to detail with consistent follow through until issues are resolved.
- Previous broadcast experience preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with police scanners is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely, accurate, and useful information to help commuters plan their drives.
- Deliver up to the minute reports on accidents, delays, and major traffic disruptions.
- Read traffic updates, commercials, and public service announcements on air.
- Gather information from multiple intake sources and monitor local, state, and national traffic feeds to determine what’s most relevant.
- Research, write, and produce traffic and weather copy for on air use; edit audio using digital editing software.
- Manage incoming information, verify facts, and ensure all details are accurate and current; maintain updated content on station websites.
- Ability to create written, visual, audio, and video content for websites, blogs, and social media platforms if need be.
