About The Position

The State Street Investment Management Trading team is a multi-asset trading desk developed to meet diverse client demands. In this role, you will be responsible for trading the US-based derivatives business, including futures, total return swaps, and options (listed, FLEX, and OTC). Secondary roles will involve equities and foreign exchange. This is a fantastic opportunity to trade for a wide range of investment strategies and teams at State Street Investment Management. This job is located in Boston, Massachusetts.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of previous buy-side or sell-side derivative trading experience.
  • Deep interest in markets.
  • Ability to manage trading costs.
  • Ability to deliver a high level of service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient trading experience of derivatives in algorithmic, list-based, RFQ, and Block execution channels.
  • Proficient in Bloomberg and execution management systems.
  • Solid understanding of markets, market forces, managing risk, and market microstructure.
  • Maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity within the business and ensure compliance with industry practice, company policies, statute, and regulatory requirements in all matters.
  • Possess both an ownership mentality of the derivative space and also a strong investor mindset.
  • Possess the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment; having flexibility and the skill to manage competing priorities.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong risk management qualities are crucial.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and build own/upgrade existing workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • Four-year education degree or higher preferred.
  • Data Science experience with some or all of Excel, Python, Java, VBA, SQL preferred.
  • Tableau data-visualization experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage to the global Portfolio Management teams with primary focus on derivatives.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely execution of client orders.
  • Engage and communicate effectively with executing brokers to deepen relationships, gather market color, explore execution strategies, and resolve exceptions.
  • Assist in the ongoing development of derivative trading capabilities, developing avenues of execution and reviewing/enhancing Transaction Cost Analysis.
  • Add instrument expertise as business requirements dictate.
  • Disseminate trade ideas, market insight, and commentary as needed or desired.
  • Ensure close cooperation and relationship building with support and oversight functions such as Portfolio Management, IT, Risk, Operations, Legal, Sales, Marketing, and Compliance.
