About The Position

Synthetic Product Franchise strategists work with management, trading, sales, finance, and operations personnel, using their mathematical and scientific training to create financial products, develop automated solutions, advise clients on transactions, price and manage risk, and identify market opportunities. The team's objectives are to expand the GS Equity Swaps business, attract new clients, and grow revenue by building next-generation automated systems that provide a best-in-class client experience. Quantitative strategists are at the forefront of the business, solving real-world problems through analytical methods. Working closely with bankers, traders, and portfolio managers, their quantitative perspectives on complex financial and technical challenges drive business decisions. As a member of the team, individuals will use advanced training in mathematics, programming, and logical thinking to construct quantitative models that drive success in global financial markets. Talents in research, analysis, and innovation will define contributions and enable solutions to a broad range of problems in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The role offers training by experts to navigate financial markets and quantitative finance methods. Daily activities may include working on alpha-generating strategies, discussing portfolio allocation, and building models for prediction, pricing, trading automation, and data analysis, with ideas having a measurable effect on the business and clients.

Requirements

  • PhD or Masters in applicable field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computational Finance, Quantitative Finance.
  • Strong programming skills and experience with an object oriented programming language (such as C++, Python, Java).
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills using math, statistics, and programming.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 - 5 years of work experience is preferable.
  • Prior experience in Finance industry is preferable.
  • Work experience in data analysis is preferable.
  • Basic fixed income & bond mathematics knowledge is preferable.
  • Experience in development of models for bespoke financial products is preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Expanding desk’s product offering by developing models for new client trades.
  • Enhancing operational scale and reducing desk cost via process automation.
  • Analysis and implementation of trading strategies for the desk.
  • Development and maintenance of trading systems for the desk.
  • Calculation and attribution of the desk’s profit and loss.
  • Calculation of real-time and daily risk.
