About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to lead a team of skilled trades workers performing day-to-day maintenance of County buildings and facilities. This position is in the Real Estate & Asset Management Department, with an area of assignment as Electrician Lead. The role involves leading and coordinating daily work activities of an assigned crew or co-workers, conferring with supervisors, organizing tasks, monitoring work progress, and inspecting completed work. The Electrician Lead will also assist with training and instructing co-workers, and provide input on disciplinary actions and performance evaluations. Additionally, the role includes completing daily facility maintenance tasks in assigned fields such as carpentry, welding, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, as well as placing, installing, and testing equipment. The position acts as Trades Supervisor in their absence, answers customer questions, inspects systems, performs preventative maintenance, maintains team equipment, and acts as a safety monitor. The role also involves notating work orders, collecting quotes from outside vendors, and potentially using large equipment like a bucket lift. On-call work may be required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of electrical trade experience.
  • One (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the performance of the essential functions.
  • Must be able to learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • A State of Georgia license as an Electrical Contractor is preferred (as required by assigned duties).
  • Able to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, and schematics helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned crew or co-workers.
  • Confers with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities.
  • Organizes tasks in order to complete assigned work.
  • Monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work.
  • Confers with co-workers, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise.
  • Assists with training and instructing co-workers regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment.
  • Assists with supervision of co-workers by reporting employee problems and providing input on disciplinary action and employee performance evaluations.
  • Completes daily facility maintenance tasks in an assigned field, such as carpentry, welding, HVAC, electrical, and/or plumbing.
  • Places, installs, and tests equipment to ensure equipment is secure and functioning properly, then reports to Trades Supervisor results.
  • Acts as Trades Supervisor in their absence.
  • Answers questions or help troubleshoot issues with customers and other departments.
  • Inspects systems and performs preventative maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, re-calibrating, and repairing, when needed.
  • Maintains team equipment to ensure staff has the necessary equipment to complete any job.
  • Acts as safety monitor on job sites for the team.
  • Ensures all work is completed properly and in a timely manner.
  • Notates work orders with details about how work was completed and materials used.
  • Collects quotes from outside vendors.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
