What you'll do: This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance of City-owned facilities and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years of related work experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must possess FEMA 100, 200, and 700 certifications, or the ability to obtain within the first six (6) months of employment.
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment used in parks maintenance.
  • Knowledge of the occupational safety rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of routine preventative maintenance of hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Skill in the use of hand and power tools, materials and equipment used to maintain park equipment.
  • Ability to operate trucks, aerial trucks, power saws, hand tools, safety equipment and other hydraulic and gas powered equipment.
  • Ability to perform strenuous labor in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to read instructions, write simple reports, visually determine that work is being done correctly, differentiate colors, and hear instructions given in a quiet or noisy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Repair equipment at City parks and facilities such as playgrounds, fencing, benches, water fountains and signs.
  • Pressure cleans sidewalks, buildings, and tennis/basketball courts.
  • Performs minor electrical and plumbing repairs when needed.
  • Performs drywall, framing, and door repair work.
  • Conducts regular inspections of facilities, parks, and equipment.
  • Trims and removes trees as needed.
  • Assist maintenance crews with sod installation.
  • Paints various equipment and signage.
  • Perform carpentry work to repair/construct assigned projects.
  • Welds benches and soccer goals as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as required/assigned.
