About The Position

Facilities Management, Residential Facilities, seeks a Trades Helper to assist trades employees with daily activities on assigned jobs. This position is located on the Tempe campus but will require working at other campus locations based on program need. This position will remain posted until filled.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license (minimum of Class D) upon employment and maintain throughout employment.
  • Post-offer of employment, selected candidate must possess an acceptable driving record which is 5 or fewer points in the most recent 39 month period from date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in assisting with installing fixtures (e.g. faucets, toilets, urinals, thermostats, etc.).
  • Knowledge of general maintenance residential maintenance.
  • Knowledge of facilities trades including plumbing and HVAC.
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Outlook Email).
  • Knowledge of quality customer service delivery.
  • Knowledge of using electronic work order systems (TMA).

Responsibilities

  • Assist trades technicians working in the Residential Facilities Services unit that provide facilities support to the campus residence halls.
  • Assisting trades personnel on repairs, collecting and delivering materials and equipment needed on the job site.
  • Clean and/or perform minor repairs on equipment.
  • Perform clean-up activities as jobs are completed.
  • Effectively communicate frequently with occupants and team members regarding work activities and timelines and provide customer service.
  • Use electronic work order systems to communicate status of projects and essential functions.
  • Safely operate university vehicles.
  • Utilize specific hand tools and equipment related to essential duties.
