HII - Mission Technologies has an opportunity available for a Trades Assistant who will provide hands-on support to machinists and mechanical technicians within the shop environment. This role is designed as an entry-level pathway into machine operations and mechanical technical positions. Under close supervision, the Trades Assistant performs basic tasks to support production flow, part preparation, and equipment upkeep. The position requires daily onsite attendance and is located in Panama City, Florida.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 0 years experience.
  • Ability to lift and move materials safely (weights typically 25–50 lbs).
  • Strong interest in mechanical trades, machining, or hands-on shop work.
  • Willingness to learn machining processes and progress toward higher-level technical roles.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of hand tools and shop safety

Responsibilities

  • Perform deburring of metal components and basic surface finishing tasks.
  • Safely transport parts and materials to and from cleaning stations, work areas, and storage locations.
  • Assist machinists by preparing workspaces, organizing tools, and staging materials.
  • Support general shop housekeeping and equipment maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, and quality requirements.
  • Demonstrate readiness to learn machine operation skills leading toward advancement into machinist-level roles.
