About The Position

This is a student position within the Facilities department, specifically focusing on Grounds Maintenance and Water Features. The role involves providing general labor assistance to skilled workers, loading and unloading equipment, cleaning job sites, and operating basic hand tools and small equipment under supervision. It is ideal for students who have started gaining relevant experience and are looking to build their skills.

Requirements

Read, write, and express information verbally in English.
Understand written and oral instructions in English.
Good health and ability to perform full range body movements.
Ability to lift and move 40-50lbs on a regular basis.
Good dexterity.
Ability to work on scaffolds and ladders.
Not be afraid of heights.
Must exemplify the university Honor Code, including the Dress and Grooming Principles and Expectations.
Must attach resume and current semester class schedule (weekly view).
All new hires must complete the Form I-9 to verify their eligibility to work in the U.S. and provide actual documents (no photocopies) to prove identity and work authorization.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of hand tools used in general construction trades.
Students who can work during academic breaks.

Responsibilities

Load and unload tools, equipment, materials, and other items from trucks, carts, forklifts, and trailers.
Roll out equipment at the beginning of a shift and roll it up at the end of a shift.
Clean up job sites and keep the shop area clean and organized.
Provide general labor assistance to workers, which may include digging, sweeping, cutting materials, measuring, or other trade-related work.
Work with basic hand tools and power tools as instructed by a supervisor.
Work with hand tools and small equipment such as power washers, airless sprayers, compressors, line trimmers, blowers, mowers, etc., as directed by a supervisor.
Accurately account for time using the facilities work order system.
