This unit is the bridge repair crew who maintains all bridges and tunnel within Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes. Examples of bridges worked on are electrical vertical lift, hydraulic or electrical bascule, hydraulic or electrical double bascule, hydraulic or electrical swing, and Pontoon. Requirements
- No experience or training is required.
- A valid Louisiana Class “D” Chauffeur’s License is required before appointment.
Responsibilities
- MAINTAINS AND PERFORMS GENERAL REPAIRS ON TUNNEL AND MOVABLE BRIDGE ENGINES AND GENERATORS. THIS WORK INCLUDES BUT IT NOT LIMITED TO THE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF COUPLINGS, BEARINGS, SHAFTING, CABLES, SLEEVES, APRON RAMPS, COUNTERWEIGHTS, HYDRAULIC LINES, HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS, DIFFERENTIALS, GEAR DRIVES, GRID DECKS, HYDRAULIC PUMPS, WINCHES, AND OTHER RELATED MOVABLE BRIDGES AND TUNNEL COMPONENTS AND EQUIPMENT.
- MAKES GENERAL REPAIRS TO INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR OF BRIDGE HOUSES.
- PERFORMS MANUAL OPERATIONS ON MOVABLE BRIDGES.
- PERFORMS TRAFFIC CONTROL ON BRIDGES
