About The Position

Maven is a market-leading, employee-owned proprietary trading firm that deploys its internal capital across discretionary, systematic, and market-making strategies. The firm manages its own capital and describes its culture as entrepreneurial and highly collaborative. Maven is seeking an ambitious, proactive Index Rolls Trader to join its Options Market Making team in Chicago. The trader will bring extensive experience trading index rolls and rates, initially across the S&P index complex and potentially other indices over time. The role focuses on managing rates and rolls across front and back expiries, taking ownership of the associated risks and identifying trading opportunities.

Requirements

Have 2–5 years of experience trading index rolls.
Have a strong understanding of options markets.
Have a strong grasp of index rolls, rates, and term-structure exposure.
Be able to identify P&L opportunities, not just hedge risk.
Be capable of working with traders and developers.
Have a commercial trading mindset and appetite for risk ownership and strategy responsibility.
Have a strong interest and ability to operate in a fast-moving, opportunistic trading environment.
Have strong analytical skills and research capabilities.
Have familiarity with Python and SQL or similar programming and database languages.

Responsibilities

Manage rates and rolls across front and back expiries, absorbing risks from the options operation.
Improve the existing trading and hedging setup.
Identify and trade P&L opportunities arising from rolls, rates, and flow.
Take end-to-end ownership of the space.
Work with developers on modest platform improvements.
Potentially help develop a broader rolls and rates trading capability over time.
