About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. As a trademark attorney for 3M, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by creating and managing global brand protection programs, including online enforcement programs, anti-generic programs, global customs enforcement, online to offline enforcement, counterfeit investigations, and managing civil and criminal anti-counterfeit actions for some of 3M’s most valuable brands. You will also provide counseling and training to business divisions within 3M on trademark-related issues globally, including transaction services. Additionally, you will obtain and maintain 3M’s trademark rights globally and work with local counsel to obtain such rights, manage a large and diverse global 3M trademark portfolio, and provide trademark due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. You will collaborate with key stakeholders to enforce 3M’s trademark rights. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
Three (3) years of law firm, trademark office, and/or in-house experience in a private, public, government, or military environment
Admitted to practice in Minnesota or eligible for admission within six months of employment
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Responsibilities

Creating and managing global brand protection programs, including online enforcement programs, anti-generic programs, global customs enforcement, online to offline enforcement, counterfeit investigations, and managing civil and criminal anti-counterfeit actions for some of 3M’s most valuable brands.
Providing counseling and training to business divisions within 3M on trademark-related issues globally, including transaction services.
Obtaining and maintaining 3M’s trademark rights globally and working with local counsel to obtain such rights.
Managing a large and diverse global 3M trademark portfolio.
Providing trademark due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
Collaborating with key stakeholders to enforce 3M’s trademark rights.
Other duties as assigned.
