Requirements

Substitute teaching certification (or be able to obtain certification within 90 days of hire) or two years of work related experience in the designated career training area.
Experience working with youth.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Computer proficiency required.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

Providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom instructor.
Implementing instructor’s lesson plans as outlined, assigning student class work and maintaining classroom control and discipline.
Taking attendance and ensuring students are in dress code in accordance to center policy.
Leaving a report for the instructor and including what assignments were completed and behavior of students.
Motivating and counseling students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems, or study habits.
Coordinating with counselors and staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.
Maintaining a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
Providing positive, quality customer service to students, staff, and other center customers.
Ensuring students learn and practice set behavioral expectations that support employability and social development for career readiness success.
Supporting and promoting and enforcing the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
Promoting the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
Maintaining accountability of staff, students, and property; adhering to safety practices; attending all required training.
