About The Position

The Trade Marketing Representative (TMR) is responsible for driving sales growth and strengthening brand presence across assigned retail accounts through the effective execution of sales and merchandising programs aligned with company objectives. The TMR leverages market insight, account knowledge, and Needs Based Selling principles to identify opportunities, understand customer needs, influence purchasing decisions, and deliver profitable growth while ensuring consistent execution of company initiatives. The TMR manages an assigned geographic territory and is accountable for achieving sales objectives, increasing product distribution, maximizing product availability, driving in-store execution, and building strong customer relationships. Through effective selling, execution excellence, and partnership development, the TMR delivers business results that support market growth and company priorities. Travel requirements range from 25% to 75%, depending on territory size, and typically average one to three overnight stays per week.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; additional education preferred.
  • Experience in sales CPG are preferred, college graduates are welcomed.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Solid understanding of business drivers with the ability to apply market and account insights to improve performance.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply selling and negotiation techniques (e.g., Triple Win approach) to drive mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Ability to interpret sales data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable territory and account plans (including Synergy reporting tools).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively, prioritize accounts, and execute against territory plans.
  • Ability to operate within a regulated environment while ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and retail agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Own the planning and execution of territory activities to achieve sales, distribution, product visibility, and inventory objectives. Prioritize accounts, determine visit frequency, and prepare for calls using sales and outlet data. Leverage local market knowledge, sales insights, and competitive intelligence to identify opportunities, drive cycle planning, and optimize in-outlet execution and overall territory performance.
  • Deliver retail and wholesale strategies by executing promotional programs, maintaining agreed product placement and planograms, and ensuring a strong in-store presence. Schedule and conduct outlet visits at optimal times to drive engagement, reinforce brand standards, and maximize program effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with retail customers and distribution partners by applying advanced selling techniques. Negotiate agreements to increase sell-out volume, secure product listings, confirm recommended pricing, and align on mutually beneficial outcomes using the Triple Win approach. Anticipate objections, tailor solutions to customer needs, and gain commitment through clear value-based proposals.
  • Maintain product availability and optimal stock levels by monitoring inventory, supporting order placement, and coordinating with store personnel and distribution partners. Merchandise products as needed and educate store staff on the importance of product visibility and availability to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Track and evaluate performance against territory objectives using Synergy or similar systems, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Provide feedback on program effectiveness, retailer activity, and market trends, while ensuring all activities comply with company policies, contractual agreements, and regulatory requirements.
