About The Position

The Trade Finance Manager is responsible for leading the bank’s trade finance unit. This role drives business growth, manages the credit risk portfolio of trade products, ensures regulatory compliance, and works closely with the bank’s Trade Finance Specialist(s) to deliver seamless trades services to corporate and institutional clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, International Business or related field.
  • Certification Required: CDCS (Certified Documentary Credit Specialist) or CSDG (Certificate for Specialists in Demand Guarantees)
  • 6+ years’ experience in trade finance operations with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a commercial bank or other financial institution
  • Deep Mastery of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) rules (UCP 600, ISBP745, URDG 758, URC 522) and modern SWIFT messaging (MT4xx, MT7xx series)
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of Incoterms 2020
  • Solid understanding and application of Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Familiarity and/or proficiency with banking systems and trade finance platforms

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations, workflow, and performance of the Trade Finance team.
  • Approve trade finance facilities, structure complex client transactions, and mitigate credit, country, and foreign exchange risks
  • Partner with Relationship Managers to pitch trade products to prospective clients when necessary
  • Assess, develop, and implement policies and procedures to optimize the Trade Services activity across the institution
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, and Know-Your-Customer (KYC) screening compliance
  • Oversee relationship management with trade platforms, correspondent banks, and internal IT to optimize transaction systems
  • Train and oversee staff on Letters of Credit (L/Cs), Standby L/Cs, and Bank Guarantees; and on reviewing complex shipping documents (Invoices, Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin) against L/C terms to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Review settlement of trades and reconciliation of client and institution accounts to ensure timely and accurate processing
  • Ensures compliance with International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) guidelines, internal policies, and regulatory standards to minimize risk to the bank while delivering accurate and timely service to customers
