Trade & Customs Compliance Manager at a glance…. We have an amazing opportunity for a Trade and Customs Compliance Manager to make a real difference at Kraft Heinz. The position lies within the Global Indirect Tax Team. Reporting directly to the Director, Global Indirect Tax North America; this role will partner with various departments including Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations and Controllership to align trade operations with the overall business objectives. The Trade and Customs Compliance Manager will serve as the primary contact for all trade and customs related matters within Kraft Heinz, which connects to the broader tax requirements and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in International Trade, Finance, Tax, International Business, Tax Law or similar field
  • 7+ years of experience in trade compliance, customs operations and audit defense
  • Robust understanding of US and CA import entry procedures for all modes of transportation
  • Experience/knowledge with CBP ACE portal functionality
  • Experience/Knowledge with CBSA CARM Client Portal
  • Demonstrated knowledge of import requirements for relevant US Partner Government Agencies (FDA, USDA, APHIS, FSIS)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of import requirements for relevant Canada Partner Government Agencies and Other Government Departments (CBSA, GAC)
  • Proficient in Excel, Power Point and ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and (Spanish preferred)
  • Communication Skills - Exposure to senior leadership requires excellent communication skills and the ability to manage internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to Simplify - Simplification skills are highly appreciated when providing simple solutions dealing with complex challenges
  • Business Sense - Always seeking savings opportunities and creating efficiencies while delivering targets
  • Analytical - As a data driven company; translate complex data into straightforward, actionable solutions through strong analytical thinking
  • High pressure - Ability to work in a high intensity environment, managing multiple projects concurrently with limited supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Customs Specialist and/or Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred
  • CCS US: NCBFAA Educational Institute: Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)
  • CCS CA: Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Program | CSCB National Office

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce trade compliance policies, procedures, internal controls and record-keeping
  • Ensure accurate HTS classification, country of origin determination, tariff application, and documentation
  • Act as the North American SME for customs compliance and regulations
  • Manage US and Canadian customs audits customs authorities and business units; ensuring risk mitigation, implementing corrective actions and adherence to regulations
  • Manage broker relationships and government inquiries
  • Assess customs business impact across the zone
  • Identify and execute savings opportunities related to customs compliance and activity (FTZ/Bonded Warehousing, Canada Duty Deferral Programs, Origin and Free Trade Agreements, Duty Drawback, Sugar-Containing Products Re-Export Program, Valuation, Tariff Classification)
  • Manage customs audits across different regions with customs authorities and business units; ensuring risk mitigation, implementing corrective actions and adherence to international and local regulations
  • Own trade master data and related trade management tools (i.e. SAP GTS. Oracle GTM)
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams on trade compliance topics and best practices
