About The Position

The Trade Compliance Specialist will be working in the corporate Customs & Excise Trade Compliance function of the ADM organization. This role supports external customs audits, conducts internal reviews to assess effectiveness and drive corrective and preventive actions. The specialist will maintain the master list of customs brokers and Powers of Attorney, and obtain and analyze declaration data from brokers to identify risks and opportunities. Key responsibilities include overseeing accurate HS classification and customs valuation, ensuring compatibility of business strategies with CETC and regulatory requirements (US and relevant Canada cross-border trade), and resolving historical origin/FTA issues while implementing preventive measures (USMCA and other FTA). The role also involves supporting CETC special projects, driving regional implementation across US and Canada operations, identifying opportunities for new CETC projects, and supporting data analytics for trade KPIs and compliance dashboards.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of customs legislation with a focus on North America (incl’ Canada)
  • Proven experience in trade compliance and internal and external auditing
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex trade data and regulations
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision and drive initiatives to completion
  • Efficient communicator (written and verbal), adept at stakeholder management and training non-experts
  • Extensive digital literacy; proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and collaboration tools
  • Professional English language skills
  • At least 7 years active experience as a customs specialist, working in a large or medium-sized company
  • Previous roles should include the filing of customs and excise declarations, internal auditing, data processing, and reporting
