About The Position

The Trade Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring compliance with customs regulations and facilitating import operations. This role involves performing HTS classification, ensuring adherence to CBP and PGA requirements, coordinating the end-to-end import process, reviewing documentation, auditing invoices, and collaborating with internal and external partners. The position requires strong analytical and organizational skills, proficiency in relevant regulations and software, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Working experience of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), Explanatory Notes (EN), and US Customs regulations (19 CFR).
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to assess and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to work effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Customs Broker License and/or completion of a Customs Broker licensing course.
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform HTS classification and duty determination using GRI, Explanatory Notes, and CBP rulings.
  • Ensure compliance with CBP and Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements (DOT, EPA, etc.).
  • Maintain and manage classification database, including rulings and audit documentation.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on operations.
  • Review product classification, valuation, and hazardous materials marking and labeling for compliance.
  • Perform research and analysis related to trade compliance, risk assessment and applicable legal or regulatory rulings.
  • Coordinate the end-to-end import process for high-volume and/or complex transactions, including data entry and documentation through Kawasaki’s internal systems.
  • Coordinate with brokers, 3PLs, and carriers to resolve issues and prevent delays.
  • Review and validate import documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure proper declaration of value, classification and required data elements.
  • Audit vendor invoices, freight bills, duties, and brokerage charges for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and trade compliance policies.
  • Submit verified invoices for timely payment to prevent service disruptions or late fees.
  • Serve as primary contact for shipments and compliance-related inquiries.
  • Participate in cross-training to support operations.
  • Participate in trade compliance training, seminars, and professional development.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects assigned.
