About The Position

Astranis is seeking a results-driven Trade & Regulatory Compliance Manager to join its legal department. This role will oversee the company's trade, ethics, and regulatory compliance programs, with a primary focus on U.S. export controls (ITAR and EAR), and extending to broader corporate regulatory management. The position involves partnering with engineering, supply chain, HR, and commercial sales teams to develop scalable compliance frameworks that mitigate legal risk and support operational growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, international relations, legal studies, logistics, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 4+ years of hands-on regulatory compliance experience, with core expertise in U.S. export controls (ITAR/EAR).
  • Working knowledge of OFAC sanctions, FCPA anti-corruption standards, and USG contracting compliance rules (FAR/DFARS).
  • Familiarity with U.S. government filing systems, such as DECCS and SNAP-R.
  • Strong ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance for technical and business partners.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with meticulous attention to detail and a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple compliance projects, and solve problems independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status Required (To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the United States, or other protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, daily administration, and continuous enhancement of the company’s trade and regulatory compliance program.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert across key regulatory domains, including ITAR, EAR, OFAC sanctions, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and FAR/DFARS provisions.
  • Classify complex technical data, hardware, software, and defense services against the Commerce Control List (CCL) and United States Munitions List (USML).
  • Evaluate emerging business initiatives and foreign engagements to determine regulatory requirements; prepare and manage export authorizations, licenses, or agreements as operational needs arise.
  • Draft, submit, and administer filings through government portals (including DECCS and SNAP-R) as necessary.
  • Partner across engineering, supply chain, HR, and commercial sales teams to manage foreign national access, establish Technology Control Plans (TCPs), and review vendor/partner agreements.
  • Support regulatory compliance aspects of U.S. Government business, including ethics program alignment, mandatory disclosures, and foreign ownership/influence considerations.
  • Lead internal compliance reviews and risk audits; draft voluntary self-disclosures or regulatory filings as required.
  • Develop and deliver company-wide training on export controls, anti-bribery, trade compliance, and corporate ethics.
  • Track changes in federal laws and trade policies to update internal standards and operational procedures accordingly.
