Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in customs brokerage, import operations, or trade compliance
  • Experience in one or more areas of classification, post-entry, audits, reconciliation, drawback, or customs bonds
  • Knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule of US, Knowledge of US Customs and Border Protection laws and regulations
  • US Customs Broker License preferred
  • PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to read, interpret, analyze, and assimilate regulations and technical documents
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to apply common sense, professional judgment, and technical expertise
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and co-workers
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast pace and high-demanding environment

Responsibilities

  • Supports U.S. import and trade compliance activities, which may include Classification, Post-Entry, Audits, Reconciliation, Drawback, and Customs Bonds
  • Reviews and analyzes import entries, commercial documentation, and transaction data for compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements
  • Applies the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), CBP regulations, rulings, and other applicable trade requirements
  • Performs assigned activities such as product classification, post-entry filings, customs audits, reconciliation, drawback claims, bond management, and risk assessments
  • Identifies and researches discrepancies, compliance risks, and opportunities for duty savings and process improvements
  • Determines applicable Other Government Agency (OGA) requirements, as applicable
  • Gathers, analyzes, and summarizes import and customs data and prepares reports for clients and management
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation and supports responses to CBP inquiries and audits
  • Advises and communicates with clients, customs brokers, internal stakeholders, and government officials regarding trade compliance matters
  • Provides guidance and training on customs regulations and compliance requirements
  • Travels up to 10%
