About The Position

As a Service Manager at WEL, you will direct service operations, supervise mechanics, and support staff in the shop. This role oversees operations of a diesel maintenance shop, leading and scheduling daily work assignments for mechanics to maximize efficiency and minimize costs and asset downtime. The position ensures preventive maintenance and repairs meet all quality and safety standards, and requires knowledge of DOT rules and regulations and experience in heavy diesel engine diagnosis and repairs. You will work closely with internal Operations management to align work scheduling with priorities and goals, monitor employee performance, and assist in annual reviews. Maintaining a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards, as well as all applicable laws/regulations, is crucial. This role also involves identifying and monitoring equipment sent for outside repairs, completing required fleet maintenance paperwork or computer entry, and handling independent contractor invoicing. You will convey necessary information regarding parts, work, and time needed to customers and contact them for additional work. Performing "yard checks" to ensure all equipment on the lot is operating as needed is also part of the responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; required
  • At least 1 year of fleet or dealership experience.
  • Teammate with a strong sense of dedication to customers and peers.
  • Self-motivated and professional.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree (Diesel Mechanic or relatable field); preferred
  • ASE Certification: preferred
  • 608 Type 2 Certification: preferred
  • CDL Certification; a plus
  • Possessing own tools; preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure preventive maintenance and repairs meet all quality and safety standards.
  • Work closely with internal Operations management to ensure any and all priorities are considered in work scheduling and goals.
  • Monitor employee’s performance and assist in annual reviews.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards as well as with all applicable laws/regulations.
  • Identify and monitor equipment sent to outside sources for repairs.
  • Complete required fleet maintenance paperwork or computer entry associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Handle Independent Contractor Invoicing.
  • Convey all necessary information regarding parts, work, and time needed to the customers.
  • Contact customers in the case of additional work to relay the details.
  • Perform “yard checks” to ensure all equipment on lot is operating as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
