About The Position

ASRC Federal Professional Services is seeking a Tractor Operator for a 6-month temporary full-time position to support ongoing activities on our program in Avon Park, FL. The primary responsibility is maintaining the improved and semi-improved grounds of the Avon Park Air Force Range (APAFR). This role requires proficiency in operating a zero-turn mower, gas trimmer, and backpack blower, as well as performing routine equipment maintenance and identifying mechanical issues. The operator must be able to work outdoors in Florida's summer climate conditions. Base work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Requirements

  • Meet and maintain required government security requirements.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent.
  • Possess and maintain a valid FL driver’s license.
  • Be able to pass a background check.
  • Possess competent written and verbal communications skills to include ability to complete equipment inspection, training, and other company forms to the fullest extent possible.
  • Ability to self-identify and self-perform work.
  • Provide for, demonstrate, and always maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks involving lifting at least 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on heavy equipment such as tractors and forklifts.
  • Experience performing equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining site landscaping, including lawns, trees, shrubs, flower beds, and irrigation systems.
  • Operating a pickup truck and trailer to transport equipment to and from work sites on APAFR.
  • Operating, fueling, and maintaining mowers and power tools, including power saws, pressure washers, and line and hedge trimmers.
  • Trimming trees, hedges, and shrubs.
  • Operating and maintaining hand tools, such as loppers, saws, and shovels.
  • Keeping grounds free from trash, litter, and debris.
  • Hauling and spreading mulch.
  • Performing routine equipment maintenance.
  • Identifying and communicating mechanical/functional issues for required repairs of equipment.
