About The Position

Quality Carriers, QRS Shops is seeking a Tractor Mechanic to join their team. This role involves diagnosing and repairing tractors and trailers, performing inspections, and ensuring equipment meets federal standards. The mechanic will also operate a yard hostler, identify parts, adhere to safety and environmental policies, and maintain a clean work environment. Welding equipment will be used as part of the duties.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience with general knowledge of equipment theory, principles and repair relating to diesel engines, air, and electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• At least 1 year of experience with general knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent vocational school required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
• Perform annual/systematic 90 day inspections (trailers) on equipment as required.
• Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.
• Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed.
• Able to identify parts and supplies as needed.
• Adheres to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous waste.
• Clean, organize and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety
• Using welding equipment
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
