We provide rewarding and purposeful work. The Tractor Operator plays a key role in maintaining safe, clean, and well-kept industrial, commercial, and public grounds. This position supports essential grounds maintenance operations on federal and contracted sites by operating heavy equipment and ensuring all assigned areas meet established standards of appearance, safety, and functionality. The work directly contributes to maintaining compliant, efficient, and well-maintained outdoor environments for clients and the public.

Requirements

  • Ability to safely operate tractors and ground maintenance equipment with various attachments.
  • Experience performing minor equipment maintenance and routine operator-level repairs.
  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safety protocols consistently.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Dependability, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience operating a farm tractor with mowing and/or cutting deck attachments.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain required credential/background checks for base access.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong attention to safety, including identifying and reporting hazards immediately.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team while maintaining quality standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or similar outdoor equipment operation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate gasoline or diesel-powered tractors to move materials, tow trailers, and transport or position heavy equipment.
  • Use tractors to pull or operate attachments such as graders, plows, rollers, mowers (over 2000 lbs.), backhoes, seeders, and disc harrows.
  • Attach, detach, and adjust tractor implements for proper and safe operation.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs, including tightening bolts, replacing washers, cotter pins, screws, and lubricating equipment.
  • Pull embedded objects and operate winches to lift, lower, or load heavy materials and equipment.
  • Perform day-to-day grounds maintenance on federal site contracts including parks, green spaces, athletic fields, playgrounds, and other designated properties.
  • Operate hand tools and power tools as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Ensure equipment is used correctly and maintained in proper working condition.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contract requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining production schedules and meeting all contract performance standards.
