About The Position

The Track Machine Operator operates equipment as part of a crew to build, repair, or maintain track. This is a field position that requires extensive travel, with approximately 75% travel between Lima, OH, Columbus, OH, and Cincinnati, OH. Work hours may include a nonstandard work week and overtime.

Requirements

  • At least two years of verifiable experience operating railroad maintenance-of-way equipment
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment problems
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written communication, both general and technical
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to sixty pounds
  • Ability to operate equipment in varying working and weather conditions
  • High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Perform equipment safety and maintenance checks
  • Report any and all defects or needed repairs to supervisor
  • Participate in job briefings and understand daily production goals
  • Perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and adjustments to equipment as needed
  • Fill out and maintain required regulatory forms
  • Promote a safe and drug-free working environment
  • Manage other projects and perform other duties as assigned
