About The Position

Wiz Kids Sports Camps are seasonal youth sports camps that offer athletic and academic enrichment to participants. The Track Head Coach is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day implementation of the track program and curriculum. Coaches serve as the primary instructors for teaching fundamental skills as well as more advanced strategy. Coaches should be passionate about their sport and love working with young athletes ranging from grades 1st through 8th. The Track Head Coach will work alongside junior group staff members (also called Associates) and will serve as one of the group heads, responsible for the execution of daily skill development sessions.

Requirements

  • Prior track related head coaching experience at the elementary or high school level.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with campers, staff, and leadership.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise groups of children in an active camp environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe, positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for all campers.
  • Experience developing or facilitating age-appropriate drills, practices, games, or recreational activities.
  • Experience working with children of varying ages, abilities, and skill levels.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, or other applicable safety certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Coaching certification in the sport of track or an advanced degree in Sports Administration.
  • Previous summer camp, youth development, education, recreation, or childcare experience.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the day-to-day implementation of the track program and curriculum.
  • Serving as the primary instructor for teaching fundamental skills and advanced strategy.
  • Developing and leading daily sport-specific drills.
  • Communicating equipment and facility needs to camp leadership staff.
  • Creating and maintaining collaborative relationships with other staff members.
  • Ensuring the welfare of campers and positive resolution of camper related issues by communicating clearly and consistently with camp leadership staff.
  • Arranging in-camp competition programming for campers grades 1 to 8 against competing programs.
  • Complying with Suspected Child Abuse Reporting.
