About The Position

This event is an Apprenticeship Expo hosted by Tacoma Public Utilities (TPU) for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the trades. It offers a non-formal setting to hear from TPU leaders, discuss trade careers, learn about career advancement, and gain insights from current apprentices and journey-level workers. Attendees can understand the hiring process, salaries, and benefits, and ask questions in an open environment. The expo will cover apprenticeship opportunities in various roles such as Line Electrician, Wire Electrician, Meter and Relay Technician, Electrical Trainee, Power Pre-Apprenticeship Program, Systems Power Dispatcher, Water Utility Worker, and Railway Conductor. Tacoma Rail is also launching a new Apprenticeship Program. The event provides an opportunity to discuss potential career paths in the trades, learn about the recruitment process, get interview advice, and speak with individuals currently in these roles. The expo will be held in person at the Tacoma Public Utilities Auditorium and virtually, with a specific agenda including welcome remarks, an overview of apprenticeship offerings, an HR preview, a Q&A panel, and networking.
