About The Position

The Town of Little Elm is seeking interested individuals to serve on various Boards, Commissions, and Committees. These roles require a commitment of time and energy to contribute to the town's economic future, quality of life, development, and animal welfare. Specific positions are open on the Economic Development Corporation (EDC), Community Development Corporation (CDC), Planning and Zoning Commission, and Animal Shelter Advisory Board. Each board has distinct responsibilities and meeting schedules, contributing to the overall governance and development of Little Elm.

Requirements

  • Must have been a resident of Little Elm for a minimum of one year.
  • Must be of high moral character.
  • Willing to devote time, effort and energy to the position.
  • Willing to attend regularly scheduled meetings.
  • Must agree to serve a full term.
  • A licensed veterinarian (for Animal Shelter Advisory Board).
  • One representative from an animal welfare organization (for Animal Shelter Advisory Board).
  • One municipal official (for Animal Shelter Advisory Board).
  • One person whose duties include the daily operations of the animal shelter (for Animal Shelter Advisory Board).
  • One at-large position as appointed by the town council (for Animal Shelter Advisory Board).

Nice To Haves

  • Graduates of CGA (Citizens Government Academy) are preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and vision for the Town of Little Elm's economic future.
  • Attract new commercial businesses, tourism opportunities, and jobs to Little Elm.
  • Recruit, retain, and enter into legal agreements with firms and companies to increase the local tax base and create jobs.
  • Provide leadership and funding for projects that enhance and preserve Little Elm’s quality of life.
  • Oversee and administer the use of funds for a wide variety of projects that benefit residents of Little Elm.
  • Advise the Town Council on development issues, including rezoning requests, ordinance revisions, approving plats, comprehensive planning, and tree preservation.
  • Make recommendations to animal services regarding policies and procedures of the animal shelter operations.
  • Make recommendations to town council on revisions to chapter 18 (Animals) of the Little Elm Code of Ordinances.
  • Make recommendations to town council on revisions to applicable fees.
  • Engage in general discussion of animal related issues within the town.
