About The Position

The Town of Parker is seeking an experienced, ethical, decisive, strategic, and values-driven servant leader to serve as its next Town Attorney. This role provides trusted legal counsel, leads a high-performing legal team, and navigates complex legal issues facing a growing community. The Town of Parker is a home-rule municipality operating under a Council-Manager form of government. The Town Council appoints the Town Manager and the Town Attorney. The Town Manager oversees the Town’s administrative and operational functions, while the Town Attorney provides legal counsel to the Town Council and Mayor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and graduation from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Attorney-at-law admitted to practice in Colorado and in good standing with the State of Colorado Bar.
  • Minimum of five years of experience practicing law in the field of municipal law in Colorado.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable municipal, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to successfully complete the Town’s pre-employment background process.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of management and team-building experience.
  • Municipal legal experience involving economic redevelopment, real estate, construction law, employment law, land use, policing, public information requests, open meetings, and litigation.
  • Experience with growth management, code enforcement, public procurement, development agreements, legislative priorities, and public records.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising, developing, coaching, and mentoring professional legal staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide trusted legal counsel to the Town Council and Mayor.

  • Advise officials on Colorado municipal law.
  • Provide legal counsel on land use, redevelopment, contracts, litigation, home rule authority under Colorado law, and other complex municipal matters.
