About The Position

The Tower Technician II plays a critical role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications towers and related equipment across various locations in the United States. This position ensures the structural integrity and operational functionality of towers that support wireless communication networks, contributing directly to the reliability and safety of communication services. The technician will work both independently and as part of a team to perform complex tasks such as climbing towers, troubleshooting technical issues, and installing antennas and cabling. Safety compliance and adherence to industry standards are paramount, as the role involves working at significant heights and in diverse environmental conditions. Ultimately, the Tower Technician II helps maintain uninterrupted communication services that are essential for both commercial and emergency operations nationwide.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience working at heights, preferably on telecommunications towers or similar structures.
  • Basic knowledge of telecommunications equipment and safety protocols related to tower climbing and electrical work.
  • Ability to pass a physical fitness test and work in various weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in tower climbing and rescue techniques.
  • Experience with RF (radio frequency) equipment installation and troubleshooting.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ANSI and TIA.

Responsibilities

  • Climb and safely work on telecommunications towers to install, maintain, and repair antennas, transmitters, and other related equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure the structural integrity and operational efficiency of towers and associated hardware.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to wireless communication equipment and cabling systems.
  • Collaborate with team members and project managers to complete installation and maintenance projects on schedule and within safety guidelines.
  • Document work performed, including maintenance logs, service reports, and compliance with safety regulations.
