About The Position

The Tower Foreman supervises and performs construction duties on a daily basis on telecommunication sites. This role involves supervising subcontractors and job site personnel to complete the scope of work assigned, requiring the ability to follow instructions and complete assigned jobs in a timely and safe manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years or more of related tower and construction experience and/or training.
  • Good communication skills, reading and writing skills (English).
  • Good computer skills. Knowledge and use of Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Clean Driving Record & Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to accommodate out of town travel, if required.
  • Working knowledge of basic hand tools, mechanical equipment, and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • ComTrain, OSHA30, RF Awareness Training, First AID/CPR trained.
  • Experience with Anritsu Site Master, Andrew, PPC, tower mapping and antenna equipment.
  • Experience stacking self-support towers, installing waveguide, antennas, and microwave dishes.
  • RF Awareness, replacement, and maintenance (coax, jumpers, TMAs, connectors, weatherproofing).
  • Highly organized and able to effectively report verbally and written reports back to the Superintendent and/or Tower Construction Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct a crew of 2-4 members.
  • Provide suggestions and recommendations for hiring, firing, training, advancements, compensation, promotions, production, efficiency, or other status changes of employees.
  • Ensure full understanding of job or project scope of work (SOW) and method of procedures (MOP).
  • Write detailed MOPs.
  • Schedule employee work and work hours for assigned employees.
  • Direct and plan the work of assigned employees.
  • Determine proper project techniques for assigned employees.
  • Maintain job records for managing or control.
  • Collaborate with Superintendent or Construction Manager to determine materials, equipment, and tools for assigned projects.
  • Read, interpret, and build according to design site plans and layouts.
  • Control the flow and distribution of materials and supplies.
  • Plan and control job budgets.
  • Manage all data in Betacom tools (Site Manager) and customer tools.
  • Ensure safety and security of employees and company assets.
  • Perform inspection of entire installs and troubleshoot problems.
  • Capture and provide closeout packages.
  • Participate and assist in handling employee complaints, grievances, discipline, and probation according to company policy and lawfully.
  • Take full responsibility for crew safety and ensure compliance with company and customer safety requirements.
  • Inspect all tools and rigging gear to ensure they are safe to use.
  • Report any workers’ comp injuries or other incidents.
  • Complete timesheets and other recordkeeping.
  • Complete Job Safety Analysis.
  • Adjust equipment and tools.
  • Understand hazards associated with tower climbing, construction equipment, and working on or near energized lines and equipment.
  • Be certified with all test equipment (Anritsu sweep gear, PIM gear, fiber testing, etc.).
  • Be experienced with custom tower rigging techniques.
  • Be experienced with troubleshooting (RET’s, GPS antenna system, RF noise floor, TMA gain, tower light systems, VSWR, microwave systems, etc.).
  • Be proficient with the completion of closeout packages.
  • Climb telecommunications towers.
  • Rig telecommunications towers.
  • Install and modify sector mounts, T-Booms, platforms, and band monopoles.
  • Install, test, and repair antennas, TMAs, diplexers, duplexers, and surge arrestors.
  • Install and test grounding of tower components including ground rings for tower, shelter, equipment pads, and compound.
  • Install and test coax and elliptical cable.
  • Install, test, and repair tower light systems.
  • Install Ice Bridges.
  • Perform sweeping tests on all lines and equipment, operate sweep test software, read results, and send to customers.
  • Perform PIM testing on all lines and equipment, operate PIM test software, read results, and send to customers.
  • Install, commission, and test RET systems.
  • Use GPS alignment tools.
  • Install, test, path align, and troubleshoot Microwave dishes.
  • Install, test, and troubleshoot RRU/BBU equipment on towers.
  • Perform other duties relating to telecommunication tower construction and maintenance.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and regulatory personnel.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
