About The Position

The AMT Lead Mechanic reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager and assists in the overall monitoring and performance of maintenance operations. This role ensures company aircraft are maintained in accordance with FAA and Manufacturer’s airworthiness standards. Duties may overlap depending on operational needs. The Lead Mechanic is responsible for assisting with planning and scheduling of maintenance, monitoring the quality of work, and directly supervising maintenance performed by other employees. In the temporary absence of the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager, the Lead Mechanic may assume their duties. This role also assists in performing Quality Assurance functions, monitoring maintenance for compliance with Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, regulations, and company policies. The Lead Mechanic ensures facilities, aircraft, ground support equipment, and work areas are maintained to company standards, makes recommendations for training and process improvements, and assists in in-house training. Accountability for expendable items, tooling, parts, and equipment is crucial. The Lead Mechanic ensures necessary information is available to other personnel and works closely with the base supervisor/manager to monitor, plan, and schedule maintenance requirements, avoiding conflicts with operations. They also assist in planning duty schedules, coordinating work assignments for efficiency, and coaching employees to maintain a positive work environment and attitude. Assisting the Maintenance Supervisor in setting and achieving departmental goals and ensuring technical documentation and maintenance records are current, updated, and submitted timely are key responsibilities. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must possess valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Hand tools, specialized manufacturers tools, diagnostic, measuring and analyzing equipment.
  • Use of aircraft maintenance manuals and technical documentation.
  • Requires flexible and analytical thinking and outstanding organizational skills.
  • Sound judgment and objectivity in decision making is essential.
  • Must be comfortable in making firm decisions relative to safety in all situations.
  • Have good communication skills, read and write the English language.
  • Ability to comply with company and regulatory rules and regulations.
  • Possess the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Intermediate with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturer’s and company training on Eurocopter/Turbomeca AS350B2 and EC130B4 and EC130T2 a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager with planning and scheduling of all required maintenance and work performed for base maintenance operations.
  • Monitor the quality and performance of all maintenance work performed to ensure compliance with FAA, Manufacturers, and company requirements.
  • Provide direct supervision of maintenance performed when working with other maintenance employees.
  • Assume duties and responsibilities of the Base Maintenance Supervisor in their temporary absence, if assigned.
  • Assist in performing Quality Assurance functions and monitoring maintenance for compliance with Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, applicable Regulations, company policies/procedures, and good standard practices.
  • Ensure facilities, aircraft, ground support equipment, and work areas are maintained to company standards.
  • Make recommendations for additional training, equipment, or process improvements.
  • Assist, monitor, and perform in-house training for maintenance department employees and suggest training recommendations to the maintenance supervisor.
  • Ensure accountability for all expendable items, tooling, parts, and company-owned equipment.
  • Ensure information necessary to accomplish maintenance objectives is made known and available to other mechanics and maintenance personnel.
  • Work closely with the base supervisor/manager to ensure maintenance requirements are continually monitored, planned, and scheduled, and to eliminate conflicts with operations.
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager in planning and coordination of duty schedules and work assignments for maximum efficiency.
  • Assist in coaching/counseling employees to maintain positive attitudes and a positive work environment.
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in setting/achieving short & long-range departmental goals.
  • Ensure technical documentation is current and updated as required.
  • Ensure maintenance records are completed and submitted in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
