About The Position

Toonie Tours is looking for Tour Guides to join their team in Banff, Alberta. This is a freelance, contractor position primarily hiring people available for part-time or seasonal full-time work, often on weekends. The main responsibility is to lead groups of 5-30 customers on entertaining and engaging tours of the community. Toonie Tours uses a performance-based compensation model and seeks individuals who love Canada and are knowledgeable about their local communities.

Requirements

  • Fluent English speaking.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present and speak loudly.

  • Exceptional story-telling skills.

  • Adapts well to varying circumstances as the group needs change with the always-changing outdoor environment.
  • Punctual - shows up early for every tour, without fail.
  • Physically fit - can manage 5 km of walking in 3 hours, while speaking and presenting.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

  • Experience in a similar role is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learn, research, design, and personalize tours and stories to be authentically presented.
  • Meet, welcome, and lead tour groups of 5-30 customers.
  • Provide local recommendations and tips for out-of-town travelers and those less familiar with the community.
  • Represent Toonie Tours, the community, and tour guides in general to the public.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
