About The Position
Toonie Tours is looking for Tour Guides to represent the local community in Red Deer, Alberta. This is a freelance, contractor position, primarily hiring for part-time or seasonal full-time work, often on weekends. The main responsibility is to lead groups of 5-30 customers on an entertaining and engaging tour of the community. Toonie Tours uses a performance-based compensation model and seeks individuals who love Canada and are knowledgeable about their communities.
Requirements
- Fluent English speaking.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to present and speak loudly.
- Personable and approachable.
- Exceptional story-telling skills.
- Ability to capture the attention of the group.
- Works well in a performance-based compensation model.
- Recommendable and commands 5-star reviews.
- Adapts well to varying circumstances.
- Punctual.
- Physically fit (can manage 5 km of walking in 3 hours, while speaking and presenting).
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Additional languages (French, Spanish, German, Russian, Italian, Portuguese) are welcome.

Responsibilities
- Learn, research, design, and personalize tours and stories for authentic presentation.
- Meet, welcome, and lead tour groups of 5-30 customers.
- Provide local recommendations and tips for travelers.
- Represent Toonie Tours, the community, and tour guides to the public.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
