About The Position

Toonie Tours is looking for Tour Guides to represent the local community in Red Deer, Alberta. This is a freelance, contractor position, primarily hiring for part-time or seasonal full-time work, often on weekends. The main responsibility is to lead groups of 5-30 customers on an entertaining and engaging tour of the community. Toonie Tours uses a performance-based compensation model and seeks individuals who love Canada and are knowledgeable about their communities.

Requirements

  • Fluent English speaking.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present and speak loudly.
  • Personable and approachable.
  • Exceptional story-telling skills.
  • Ability to capture the attention of the group.
  • Works well in a performance-based compensation model.
  • Recommendable and commands 5-star reviews.
  • Adapts well to varying circumstances.
  • Punctual.
  • Physically fit (can manage 5 km of walking in 3 hours, while speaking and presenting).
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

  • Experience in a similar role is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learn, research, design, and personalize tours and stories for authentic presentation.
  • Meet, welcome, and lead tour groups of 5-30 customers.

  • Represent Toonie Tours, the community, and tour guides to the public.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
