About The Position

The K-12 Instructional Support TOSA supports teachers and teacher teams in enhancing instruction and student achievement through research-based best practices. The role focuses on building a culture of coaching across schools while also contributing to district-level initiatives. Approximately 80% of this position is dedicated to instructional coaching, with the remaining 20% supporting district systems through a specific district-level mandate or initiative assigned by leadership. Outcomes for this position are directly tied to district goals and the strategic plan.

Requirements

  • Valid Oregon teaching license
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license with access to a vehicle
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience
  • Expertise in best practice instructional delivery methods and adult learning strategies
  • Bilingual required for Two-Way Immersion schools

Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalized, job-embedded professional development on effective, research-based teaching, assessment, and classroom management strategies using data to inform instruction.
  • Coach teachers in the analysis of disaggregated assessment data and support action plans to eliminate achievement and opportunity gaps.
  • Collaborate with principals and teacher teams to utilize assessment data, curriculum frameworks, and technology integration to support instructional design and implementation.
  • Utilize Common Core State Standards and TTSD curricula to design instructional units and assessments that incorporate 21st-century skills.
  • Prioritize the creation of language-rich classrooms that promote student dialogue and discourse.
  • Implement research-based instructional strategies through full coaching cycles, co-planning, co-teaching, and modeling best practices.
  • Support teachers in aligning curriculum with state standards to ensure rigorous and equitable learning opportunities.
  • Provide non-evaluative classroom observations, coaching, and feedback to enhance instructional effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with district teachers and administrators to align curriculum K-12 and work with Instructional Leadership Teams to set instructional priorities.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate professional learning activities for TTSD teaching staff.
  • Research and support best practices for high-quality, explicit instruction.
  • Collaborate with building leadership to design and facilitate site-based professional development.
  • Work with other instructional support TOSAs, and administrators to ensure consistency and alignment across the district.
  • Provide professional development during the summer as needed and support buildings with their PD plans and implementation.
  • Lead or support a specific district-level mandate or initiative as assigned by leadership.
  • Analyze disaggregated data to identify actions and programming that eliminate opportunity gaps.
  • Gather stakeholder feedback to inform program development and improvement.
  • Include student voice at the core of all work.
  • Establish partnerships with community and families.
  • Support efforts to close opportunity and program gaps in access and outcomes.
  • Respond to district needs by contributing expertise in curriculum, instruction, and educational equity.
  • Co-plan and co-lead curriculum adoption processes as assigned by leadership.
