About The Position

We are seeking a Torque Engineer to provide torque engineering support for manufacturing operations and new program activities within a vehicle assembly environment. This role is responsible for supporting torque-related equipment, process execution, launch readiness, continuous improvement, and plant performance with a strong focus on safety, quality, responsiveness, cost, and people. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with production, maintenance, quality, manufacturing engineering, and suppliers to develop, improve, validate, and sustain torque-related manufacturing processes and equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with vehicle assembly manufacturing processes and plant equipment.
  • Working knowledge of torque systems, fastening processes, and manufacturing process controls.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to understand complex manufacturing systems.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capability and ability to resolve technical issues with independent judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across functions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced plant environment while maintaining focus on safety, quality, and timing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with torque controllers, torque guns, related fastening equipment, and Atlas Copco controllers and tooling is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and structured manufacturing problem solving.
  • Experience supporting launch activities, validation events, or manufacturing process implementation.
  • Familiarity with process control plans, standardized work, and torque verification processes.
  • Experience working with suppliers, maintenance teams, and manufacturing engineering organizations in a plant setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead torque-related engineering work for new installations, replacements, process improvements, and validation activities.
  • Support the planning, installation, launch, operation, and improvement of torque equipment and associated manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate and communicate process changes that improve assembly performance, safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Ensure torque processes comply with applicable bulletins, process control plans, standards, and plant requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project timing plans, implementation schedules, and execution milestones for torque-related work.
  • Investigate equipment and process issues using structured problem solving and implement robust corrective actions.
  • Support cross-functional plant meetings and represent torque/process engineering in improving overall plant performance.
  • Develop cost estimates, investment forecasts, business cases, and appropriation plans for torque-related projects.
  • Provide technical support for plant operations and partner with engineering, manufacturing, and vendors on implementation activities.
  • Promote safe work practices and support ergonomic, housekeeping, and environmental objectives in all work activities.
