About The Position

Achieve daily departmental goals, safety practices, and production while working together as a team. Duties include setting up, operating and adjusting cold forming and supplementary machinery to produce aluminum and steel products or those of other materials. Diagnose and remedy any operating and tooling difficulties and be responsible for proper machine operation. Check material and place proper material in proper containers. Insert and adjust punches, dies and cutting dies furnished by machine shop. May stone and polish carbide and other alloyed punches and dies when needed. Could do some heat treating of tools. Must be able to remedy any operating and tooling difficulties, repair parts. Perform all inspection requirements to ensure that parts meet specifications visually and dimensionally with micrometer and other sizing gauges and be responsible for the quality of the product. Work from drawings, specifications and verbal instructions. Properly lubricate machines and product as needed. Perform safe work practices. Keep necessary production and quality records. Keep work area clean and orderly. May perform other work related to the job. Must be able to work overtime if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up, operating and adjusting cold forming and supplementary machinery to produce aluminum and steel products or those of other materials.

  • Stoning and polishing carbide and other alloyed punches and dies when needed.
  • Performing heat treating of tools.
  • Remedying operating and tooling difficulties and repairing parts.
  • Performing all inspection requirements to ensure that parts meet specifications visually and dimensionally with micrometer and other sizing gauges.
  • Lubricating machines and product as needed.
  • Performing safe work practices.
  • Keeping necessary production and quality records.
  • Keeping work area clean and orderly.
  • Communicating Behavior Based Safety.
  • Wearing proper PPE.
  • Identifying, reporting and resolving safety risks/hazards.
  • Supporting and maintaining 6-S 360 principles.
  • Performing and building quality at the source to ensure specifications are met.
  • Identifying and working collaboratively to resolve non-conformances.
  • Supporting and working collaboratively to initiate and follow through with corrective actions.
  • Diagnosing and problem-solving operational deficiencies.
  • Checking completed work for hardness and visually inspecting as required.
  • Participating with lean initiatives to make continuous improvements in the department (6S projects, 6S 360 and SMED events).
  • Communicating and following work instructions.
  • Ensuring FIFO at operational levels.
  • Team collaboration to ensure equipment uptime and efficiencies.
