About The Position

A Tool and Parts Attendant maintains the inventory of tools, equipment, and parts by receiving, storing, and issuing them to workers. Key duties include tracking inventory, keeping records, performing inspections, and assisting mechanics with locating parts. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage inventory effectively.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of measuring tools, hand tools, and machine tools.
  • Good record-keeping and possibly computer skills (for tracking inventory).
  • Physical ability: must be able to handle and arrange tools, perhaps lifting or carrying parts.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to keep simple records and make arithmetic computations accurately.
  • Applicant must possess a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening.
  • Ability to receive a favorable TIER-1 investigation and obtain and maintain a CAC.

Nice To Haves

  • Some prior experience in tool management, inventory control, or facilities/maintenance support is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving Tools & Parts: Accept deliveries of tools, machine tools, dies, measuring devices, and other equipment. Inspect shipments for accuracy and damage.
  • Storage & Inventory Management: Organize and maintain a storage system for all tools and parts. Track inventory levels, conduct periodic counts, and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Issuance and Distribution: Issue tools, measuring devices, and equipment to technicians, mechanics, or other staff as needed. Ensure proper documentation of check-outs/check-ins.
  • Maintenance of Tools: Coordinate the maintenance, calibration, and repair of tools and measuring devices. Ensure tools are kept in working order.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain detailed logs of tool usage, inventory movements, and tool condition. Provide regular reports to supervision.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow safety procedures when storing and issuing tools. Ensure tools are properly stored to prevent accidents. Comply with any relevant regulations.
  • Support Role: Possibly assist with other facility-management or maintenance tasks when needed (depending on contract or site).
  • Assisting Staff: Work with mechanics and other staff to locate parts and identify needs.
  • Ordering: Generate purchase requisitions or order new supplies when needed.
