Come Together at Kapco Video Toolroom Technician Position Summary The Toolroom Technician is responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and efficient changeover of insert dies used in stamping operations. This role ensures tooling is properly set, aligned, entered into the ERP system properly, and ready to support production requirements while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and uptime.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a toolroom or stamping environment
  • Strong understanding of stamping dies, inserts, and tooling components
  • Ability to read and interpret tooling prints and specifications
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.)
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with blanking, forming, and progressive dies
  • Exposure to grinding, fitting, and bench work practices
  • Forklift or crane operation experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform insert die changeovers in accordance with production schedules and set-up standards
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble die inserts and components
  • Verify proper fit, alignment, and clearances of die inserts prior to production release
  • Troubleshoot issues related to insert fit, wear, or performance during changeover
  • Perform minor repairs, adjustments, and polishing of die components as needed
  • Ensure all tooling is properly labeled, stored, and maintained between jobs
  • Coordinate with press operators, engineering, and maintenance to ensure smooth transitions between jobs
  • Support tryout activities and continuous improvement efforts related to die setup and changeover efficiency
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling condition, repairs, and changeover activities
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and proper handling of tooling
