About The Position

VAL-CO, a leader in commercial poultry, egg, and swine production equipment, specializing in world-famous poultry watering and feeding systems, is currently looking for a Toolroom Journeyman at our Coldwater, Ohio facility. This role involves operating CNC machines, assembling components, and maintaining tool room machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tool steel properties and machining techniques, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Requirements

Must have 4 years machining & tool and die building and detailing experience, machine building/re-building, or approved schooling
Good understanding of tool steel properties and heat-treating characteristics
Sufficient in reading standard component and assembly prints. Also must understand standard print terminology and symbols
Provide own machinist tools and be proficient in using them
Must pass company machinist math test
Possess a quality and safety conscious attitude
Ability to program & run tool room CNC machines
Must be capable of welding standard too steels (hot rolled- cold rolled and tool steels)

Responsibilities

Properly and safely set-up and operate all tool room machinery including CNC machines without supervision
Produce and assemble quality machined/ground components from print to tolerances up to +-.0005" without supervision and in a timely manner
Assemble dies, fixtures and jigs to assembly print
Work independently on assigned jobs with minimal supervision
Understand machining /grinding tendencies of different tool steels and the necessary machine settings / cutting tools to produce machined/ground parts to print
Maintain clean orderly work area and follow all safety rules
Perform routine maintenance on tool room machines
Must be capable of maintaining a healthy, cooperative and cordial attitude in regards to the working relationship with fellow tool room staff
Must be able to troubleshoot tooling and fixtures
Conduct must be consistent with good character and must be reflective of our company's published core values.
