Toolroom Journeyman
About The Position
VAL-CO, a leader in commercial poultry, egg, and swine production equipment, specializing in world-famous poultry watering and feeding systems, is currently looking for a Toolroom Journeyman at our Coldwater, Ohio facility. This role requires a skilled individual capable of operating various tool room machinery, including CNC machines, to produce and assemble high-quality components. The position emphasizes independent work, a strong understanding of machining principles, and the ability to troubleshoot tooling and fixtures. Requirements
- 4 years machining & tool and die building and detailing experience, machine building/re-building, or approved schooling
- Good understanding of tool steel properties and heat-treating characteristics
- Sufficient in reading standard component and assembly prints. Also must understand standard print terminology and symbols
- Provide own machinist tools and be proficient in using them
- Pass company machinist math test
- Possess a quality and safety conscious attitude
- Ability to program & run tool room CNC machines
- Capable of welding standard too steels (hot rolled- cold rolled and tool steels)
Responsibilities
- Properly and safely set-up and operate all tool room machinery including CNC machines without supervision
- Produce and assemble quality machined/ground components from print to tolerances up to +-.0005" without supervision and in a timely manner
- Assemble dies, fixtures and jigs to assembly print
- Work independently on assigned jobs with minimal supervision
- Understand machining /grinding tendencies of different tool steels and the necessary machine settings / cutting tools to produce machined/ground parts to print
- Maintain clean orderly work area and follow all safety rules
- Perform routine maintenance on tool room machines
- Maintain a healthy, cooperative and cordial attitude in regards to the working relationship with fellow tool room staff
- Troubleshoot tooling and fixtures
- Ensure conduct is consistent with good character and reflective of company's published core values
