About The Position

Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join its Service team. Peerless Pump Company is a US-based manufacturer of horizontal and vertical centrifugal pumps for fire, industrial, and municipal applications. As our new Toolmaker, you will be setting up and operating machine tools to construct, repair, and fabricate tooling, fixtures, and machine parts that keep our manufacturing operations running smoothly. Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Ability to read and interpret machining prints
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and hand/power tools
  • Current welding certification (gas, electric arc, heli-arc, or wire feed) or ability to become certified

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of manual machining experience including mills, drills, and grinders
  • Experience operating lift trucks, man lifts, and company vehicles
  • Background in fixture repair, casting repair welding, or fabrication in a production environment

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual machine tools (mills, drills, grinders) to construct or repair tools, fixtures, machine parts, and production components
  • Plan sequences of operations and create layouts including compound angles, complex contours, and coordination reference points across multiple planes
  • Perform all standard fabrication, welding (gas, arc, heli-arc, wire feed), brazing, and product repair welding on various metals and castings
  • Prepare bills of material and sketches needed to complete assignments, and maintain accurate manual and electronic records
  • Perform fitting, filing, deburring, and finishing operations to ensure parts meet precise specifications
  • Provide training and instruction to fellow team members and promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
